A study on marketing practices and constraints perceived by goat rearers in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh

A total of 240 goat rearers, selected at random from three animal husbandry divisions the district, were interviewed by a pretested schedule and required data collected, analysed presented in present study. Majority respondents (52.50%) marketed male kids age 3-4 months, followed 5-6 months (47.50%). Most rearers bucks (63.75%) does (81.25%) years. (68.75%) sold goats to middle men disposed them their villages (85.42%). The body weight animals is main criteria for selling (59.58%) perceived enterprise as remunerative (99.58%). sale price (Rs.) buck, doe kid study area was 8662.50±198.87, 6022.92±75.63 2237.50±27.68, respectively whereas meat 473.96±2.07 per kg. shrinkage grazing browsing goats, lack financial assistance banks/ government agencies purchase high cost feed fodder, scientific knowledge about feeding management fodder shortage willingness young generation take up rearing profession major constraints area.
